A century-old locomotive Erqi factory is about to stop production. Review the development history of diesel locomotives in Beijing

The farewell of the car is also the farewell of people.

Shuai Xicheng, born in 1971, is a dispatcher in the locomotive workshop. He is affectionately called "Shuai Diao" by the workers, and the last two locomotives were assembled under his command.

From accessories to complete locomotives, it is like assembling two giant toys weighing nearly 100 tons. "Shuai Diao" is like a big housekeeper, directing dozens of workers from fitters, electricians, welders and other types of work to break up parts together.

Shuai Diao, who has the skill of staying in beauty, has been working in Erqi Factory for 30 years, but if you count his father Shuai Shijun, the connection between Shuai Diao and Erqi Factory has actually started since birth. The Erqi Factory, which was founded in 1897, has gone through more than 120 years’ history, leaving many workers of the second generation or even the third generation. Together with the Erqi Factory, these families witnessed the "Erqi Revolutionary Movement" and the birth of new China diesel locomotives.

Now, "Erqi Factory" bid farewell to its old job, and the workers will also bid farewell to the workshop. For the "second generation" and "third generation", it is like saying goodbye to relatives who have been together since birth. Soon after leaving his post, Shuai Diao squinted and smiled as usual: "Even if the workshop will no longer produce in the future, I still want to stay and work here. If a museum is built in the factory, I can at least be a commentator."

Unlike the "post-70s" and "the second generation of factories", young people are more willing to stick to their job skills.

Wang Zhiquan, the squad leader of the big class, born in 1989, is a proud pupil of ShuaiDiao. Besides the locomotive assembly technology, he also learned a smile from ShuaiDiao.

In 2008, Wang Zhiquan came to Beijing "Erqi Factory" from Datong, Shanxi Province. After ten years in the locomotive workshop, he took over the "handsome" class with excellent skills and became the squad leader responsible for the assembly of large parts.

Wang Zhiquan installed diesel engines for locomotives.

When hearing the news that "Erqi Factory" planned to move to Fangshan Doudian, he simply bought a house in Doudian and settled down, ready for a long time. Later, "Erqi" moved into a Doudian factory jointly built by "Changke" and "Erqi". CRRC provided the employees of "Erqi Factory" with the opportunity to transfer to the Doudian factory. Wang Zhiquan hoped to enter the new factory and continue to engage in assembly work: "With ten years of experience, there will be no problem in technology there."

Technology is the anchor of young people who are not afraid of the storm, and their down-to-earth attitude makes them shine a little in the last days of "Erqi Factory".

He Taotao, a fitter in the bogie workshop, was born in 1997, and has become the backbone of the workshop for two and a half years.

Before the Spring Festival, He Taotao, who was on vacation in his hometown in Shanxi, received a call from Wang Jianyong, director of the workshop, hoping that he could go back to the factory and build the wheels and bogies of the last two locomotives of Erqi Factory together with his colleagues. He immediately returned to the workshop without saying anything.

He Taotao took out the wheel of the last locomotive from the heating furnace.

"It’s amazing to shut down the factory after just two years!" In the joke, there is no complaining tone. For He Taotao, who was born after 1990, the loss of the factory is nothing more than changing a job. Whether in Beijing or back home, the salary of dry technology will not be too bad. "Coming out is to earn money. I learned locksmith. I can build trains and repair cars, but the parts are different. I am not afraid if I have skills."

A single young man has no worries about feeding his whole family, but the "parents" of "Erqi Factory" have much more complicated problems to consider.

Wang Jianyong, director of the bogie workshop, is also a "post-70s" and "second generation of the factory". As the director of the workshop, the first thing he thinks of when facing the notice of production suspension is the workshop staff. "The workshop director is like the parents of the workshop workers. What will the children do in the future if the factory stops production? I am at ease when they all have landed. "

In order to make more employees have better career development, he not only often talks with employees, arranges skills training for employees, but also actively contacts the equivalent industry units of Beijing Metro Operation Company, striving for more employees to make the best use of their talents and realize their career ideals.

Qiao Hongbo, born after 1960s, is the deputy general manager of CRRC Beijing Erqi Locomotive Co., Ltd., and also a "second child and seven people" who went from workshop to management position, and participated in the steering wheel during the transformation of the "Erqi Factory".

"The’ Erqi Factory’ is not gone, but transformed into a scientific, technological and cultural innovation city with cultural creation as the main body." Qiao Hongbo’s recent work has been around the new development after the transformation of "Erqi Factory". In the future, "Erqi Factory" should not only retain the red historical and industrial cultural relics, but also build a scientific and technological innovation park covering new media creation, artificial intelligence, rail transit equipment research and development and cultural tourism.

In the middle of this year, the first phase of the transformation of "Erqi Factory" will be officially completed and unveiled, and many leading scientific and cultural enterprises and stars have also expressed their intention to settle in.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the Xiaoyanglou, where foreign engineers lived, turned into an entrepreneur club in Wenchuang Park.

The locomotive workshop, which was built in the early 20th century, will remain intact as an industrial relic.

"We have made a request to our partners and enterprises, that is, we hope they can receive more employees from Erqi Factory, and enterprises are willing to cooperate. The placement of employees is a difficult point in the transformation, but we will do our best to help employees and’ Erqi Factory’ successfully transform together within the scope permitted by the policy. "

"Although the news of the suspension of production makes people feel lost, the’ Erqi Spirit’ is still there, and we can still see the bright future of the’ Erqi Factory’ in the new era!" Qiao Hongbo said.
