Car manufacturing: Sailis deploys two smart factories to develop new energy vehicles

On December 23 last year, Cyrus Automotive Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Cyrus") officially launched its high-end smart car brand AITO, and the first model, the M5, was delivered in March this year. As of the end of May, the cumulative delivery exceeded 10,000 vehicles.

The M5 is manufactured at the Cyrus Liangjiang Smart Factory, which meets Industry 4.0 standards.

What standards is Industry 4.0?

Xu Lin said that the Cyrus Liangjiang Smart Factory put into use in 2019 has world-class high-standard intelligent manufacturing capabilities and has achieved a high degree of automation and intelligence. It has more than 1,000 intelligent machines, 100% automation of key processes, and 24-hour OurHours online inspection. It can effectively reduce labor costs while making manufacturing accuracy and product quality reach first-class levels. It was awarded the 2021 Chongqing "Lighthouse Factory".

In order to avoid the potential danger of battery pack operation at more than 300 volts UHV, the production modules in the battery PACK workshop of the factory are produced by fully automatic AGV unmanned, and the key welding process adopts the most advanced precision high-speed aluminum wire welding technology to achieve fully automatic online monitoring of welding.

"Such a factory guarantees fast production and high-quality delivery of our vehicles," he said. In addition to the Liangjiang Smart Factory, we are building a second smart factory in Phoenix, Shapingba District, which is also built according to Industry 4.0 standards. It is expected to be completed and put into use in the second half of this year, with a maximum annual production capacity of 150,000 units.

R & D: Huawei and Cyrus cross-border integration, creating three precedents

"The relocation of the headquarters of Xiaokang Group and the related business clusters of Cyrus is a new development stage of a higher starting point for Cyrus Automobile, and a new starting point for Cyrus to become a global intelligent leader," Xu Lin said.

In December 2017, Xu Lin was transferred from the Chief Technology Officer of Xiaokang Group to Cyrus, and began the transformation from a traditional car track to a new energy vehicle.

Xu Lin said that unlike traditional cars and new Internet forces, Internet companies have certain innate advantages when entering the new energy automobile industry. First, they have their own technological attributes, and they have certain advantages and persuasive power in the intelligent level of vehicles, such as autonomous driving and intelligent cockpit. Secondly, many technology companies have their own relatively mature user circles and their own fans, making it easier to find their target audience after the vehicle is built.

Traditional car companies have a complete vehicle supply and production system, and the established brand reputation and vehicle performance experience, technical strength, and workmanship enjoy certain advantages.

At the same time, traditional car companies have accumulated years of experience in vehicle chassis, power, interior and exterior design, etc., and are quite mature in both tuning and design.

"Cyrus has a very good partner, which is Huawei," he said. Many people say that the cross-border integration of Huawei and Cyrus is a smart move. Combined with the strengths of all parties, it can become a global intelligent leader in the future. I agree with this statement.

The transformation of the new energy automobile industry has shown a trend of borderless integration, ecological development and mutual benefit are more important, and the cross-border cooperation between car companies and technology companies is bound to be further strengthened. The cooperation between Cyrus and Huawei is also the general trend, and the pragmatic value of "user-centered, quality first" is the consensus of the two sides to consolidate cooperation. In 2019, the two sides have already started cooperation.

At present, through the model of empowering each other and in-depth cooperation, Cyrus and Huawei have deepened cooperation in the field of intelligent end points around technology, products and channels, and jointly created high-performance and intelligent mobility solutions to integrate the digital world into every vehicle.

Both Cyrus and Huawei are "technology nerds" who focus on technology research and development. Huawei is a global leader in technological innovation and is committed to building a smart world where everything is connected.

Sailis also focuses on investment in research and development, holds more than 1,000 new energy-related technology patents, and is also the first enterprise in China to master the core three electric technology and has the qualification for new energy vehicle production. It is precisely because each other has the same pursuit in the technical field that the cooperation between the two parties is quite effective.

Huawei has more than 5,000 experience stores across the country, and also has 730 million stock of smart phone users, which can provide a huge traffic entrance for intelligent product sales.

"The cross-border integration of our joint business with Huawei has created three precedents," Xu Lin said. First, it has created a precedent for the deep integration of new energy automobile companies and ICT technology companies; second, it has created a precedent for cars to enter mobile phone stores for sales, achieving the world’s first technology brand and car brand channel interoperability; third, it has created a precedent for mobile phones and cars to be released together.

Planning: Qinjie M7 is about to be mass-produced, and more mid-to-high-end smart models will be launched in five years

Recently, the Cyrus Phoenix Smart Factory is working overtime for the final commissioning phase.

"The Wenjie M5 is produced in the Liangjiang Smart Factory, and the upcoming Wenjie M7 will be produced in the Phoenix Smart Factory," Xu Lin said. The Wenjie M7 is positioned as a "luxury smart large electric SUV" and will be officially released soon.

"For the upcoming mass production of the Wenjie M7, we have the solid foundation and good reputation laid by the Wenjie M5 before, and the technical support of Huawei. We think the future is promising."  

At present, Chongqing’s automobile industry is huge in scale and has outstanding industrial advantages. Sailis will actively respond to the strategy of building a world-class automobile industry cluster in Sichuan and Chongqing, closely follow the new round of scientific and technological revolution and the trend of "new four modernizations" of automobiles, and accelerate the digital transformation of enterprises.

"We will still adhere to the concept of technological self-sustainability, maintain an open and cooperative mindset, and actively cooperate with outstanding enterprises in the relevant chain to promote the optimization of the entire industrial chain and jointly promote the development of the new energy automobile industry," he said. Xu Lin said that in the future, Cyrus will still be user-centric, defining car functions according to user usage scenarios, and defining configuration and technical solutions according to functions. At the same time, the car will be divided into hardware bases, software bases and application layers, and gradually realize "software-defined cars".
